Ashton needed 45 minutes this morning before he could focus on work due to "not having a good day".
Staff checked in with him several times within the 45 minutes to offer assistance to get started.
Ashton told staff he was ready to work and asked for help. He was given help to complete his math assignment. When he was finished with math, Ashton said he was having a bad day and couldn't focus. He left his work space without permission and went into another classroom. After several prompts with wait time in between, he did return to the other side with staff.
A teacher Ashton prefers to work with was available to work with Ashton, but he refused to work. Ashton left his work space and broke a pencil and left the pieces on the floor. Ashton moved a divider to walk through the room instead of going around per the rules.
Ashton was becoming agitated and upset that he wasn't doing well. A decision was made to have Ashton leave at 11:00 today. Work was sent home with him to complete and return tomorrow.
