Zach walked this morning and then got right to work on an assignment. He then stated that he wanted to call his mom and demanded his phone. He was very agitated that he could not have his phone.
Zach broke a few pencils and made a bit of a mess on his desk. Some swearing and derogatory comments about staff and students. Zach had been offered alternate work space, break outside, coloring/drawing throughout the morning to help him get back on track.
Zach's mom was notified that he was having a difficult morning and she then called to talk to staff.

Zach was told his mom was aware that he was having a bad morning and that she wanted him to do his best to turn it around. After talking with staff, Zach asked to go to a quiet area of the room for a while. He took about 40 minutes and when approached to get back on track he was more cooperative and ready to work the last part of his day before dismissal.
