Hunter arrived and greeted staff. He asked if he could help pack up some books because he was not going to do work.
Hunter was told school work first then help. Hunter refused to work and left his work space. He read an assignment with staff at 9:25 but refused to complete the written portion.
He was very agitated and pounded on a desk. He groaned and clenched his fists. He stepped outside three different times and walked up and down the path on the property. This helped for a short time but then he would become agitated again. He asked to talk to his grandma. The call made him more frustrated. He did not engage in his math or science work today.
When he was ready to have a conversation at 10:00, he shared that he was frustrated because he did not have a good start to his day at home. We used that time to talk about what he could do to keep the frustration to a minimum in the morning. He became calmer as we talked and accepted a suggestion for the morning routine.
