Aiden had difficulty getting along with a peer he has been having a problem with this week. He feels that the peer had not treated him fairly and he is having difficulty letting staff help him to resolve it and move forward. The peer and Aiden both made comments to annoy today despite best efforts to keep them in their areas to maintain a calm and quiet work environment for them as well as others. At times throughout the day, Aiden talked loudly about the other student so that student could hear his comments. Several times, Aiden peered over his work cubicle to try to make eye contact from across the room.
As the day went on, Aiden was increasingly more agitated. He made antagonistic comments to the student and was disrespectful to staff. Aiden was given an offer to go with staff to the library and then the park next to the library to help him regulate himself and maintain appropriate school behaviors. (Change the negative thoughts) He said he did not want to go because he did not want to look weak.
Staff took the other student to the library to check out books for a science assignment.
While the student was gone, Aiden went into the student's work space and tried to mess up his area. Staff was with Aiden and told him to stop and remain in his area but Aiden did not listen.
Aiden tore a piece of paper money and then returned to his own space as staff was with him. Aiden had difficulty the rest of the afternoon, talking about the student and how he would just continue the same antagonistic behavior with the student tomorrow.
