Bryce started the day with a positive attitude. He was calm and respectful to staff and he greeted a peer who is shy and not very interactive and asked him how he is doing.
Bryce had difficulty maintaining attention to completing his work, even with support. He completed 4 math problems in one hour with breaks for movement. Bryce participated in a 15 minute drum lesson today but got frustrated and asked to stop after 10 minutes which was allowed as the lesson is optional and he wanted to try it. He went for a walk with staff and then was ready to work on his reading. Bryce had lunch and while sitting in a teacher chair he was playing with the lever that controls the height of the chair. He was asked to leave the chair in the position it was in. Bryce became agitated and walked outside mumbling to himself. Bryce came back inside and sat in the community room. Bryce did not want help from staff to calm so he was given space and time to regulate with staff in proximity. Bryce then said he was going to fight a particular student and call his therapist, who was meeting with the student at the time, rude names. He did not fight with the student but did call the student and therapist rude names and made threatening comments. He was disruptive to their meeting as well as to other students who were working. Bryce was directed outside by staff but he kicked the doors and pushed staff to go back into the building. Police were called to help to de-escalate and Bryce's dad was called to let him know of the situation. Bryce was antagonistic to staff. Bryce de-escalated when police were called and was calmer when police arrived. Bryce's dad arrived at 1:20 to take him home.
