Bryce had a good first hour of the school day. He took a walk and then after a snack and a break he started on his math. After math he participated in part of his reading group.
At about 9:45 Bryce was angry with staff about the community service schedule for Friday. He very quickly escalated to anger, threats, swearing, and throwing some objects on the floor. Staff tried to talk to him about the plan being flexible and could be adjusted but Bryce would not accept conversation. Time with a preferred adult, breaks, a walk, water, food was offered but he was not able to accept help to de-escalate in the moment. Within 20 minutes Bryce was calmer but not fully back to a regulated state. It took about 40 minutes for him to be calm and hold appropriate conversation.
Bryce had lunch with staff and a peer and was in good spirits.
When it was time for academics, Bryce became highly agitated and insisted on going home early (12:30). Staff let him know he had only 90 minutes left of his day but he was agitated and noncompliant. He insisted we call dad. When Bryce talked to his dad (12:35) it help to calm him and dad supported the stance that he stay at school until his dismissal time. Bryce was calmer after having talked with dad. He did not complete any other assignments this afternoon.
