Bryce started his day in a quiet, calm manner. After talking with staff and having a snack, he worked on his math independently. He was doing the math correctly but only completed 8 short problems before stopping and saying he couldn't work anymore. He said he felt he is doing well on his math. He said he would try to work on science but when we opened the book he walked away. Bryce wandered a lot today, having difficulty staying in his seat. He refused a walk but stepped outside for 5 minutes. Bryce was angry because the student he has been having difficulty getting along with/accepting the student's personality traits, was working in the other classroom today.
Bryce was agitated about his transportation to and from school because another student was added to the route. When his agitation escalated (slamming doors, swearing, disturbing students working), I had him talk to his dad via phone which helped de-escalate for a time. Bryce had a good lunch hour with staff and peers. He took a walk with staff and a peer from the other classroom and after the walk he showed the peer some books that he might like to read. When the peer returned to his classroom, Bryce worked on one science lesson with staff and then needed a movement break. Bryce became agitated about his transportation again and insisted on calling his mother to talk about it. He became increasingly angry until staff had him talk to his mom. The phone call helped and Bryce was able to get through the rest of his day without further incidence. Bryce asked if he could take his math home to finish with his dad tonight.
