Sophie was quiet today. She seemed sad and did not complete work this morning. She was a bit irritable and did not engage in academics. Sophie organized books on a shelf without being asked but it seemed to have a calming effect.
Much drawing this morning-seemed to need it as an outlet. Although prompted to engage in academics with teacher support, it appeared Sophie needed the time to regulate her feelings. Teacher check in, proximity, and support throughout the morning. About mid-morning she said she was feeling better and her drawings were happier. She said she felt she just needed to get all the bad feelings out through her drawings.
After lunch, Sophie participated in art class. She did a great job following the directions, taking her time to do a great job on the assignment. After art Sophie was ready to complete some academic work. She worked for the rest of the afternoon and was much more talkative with staff and peers.
