Hunter arrived at 9:15 this morning. He entered the classroom quietly and calmly. Hunter greeted staff and a peer. He said he was tired and didn't want to do school work.
He would not put on his Woodland shirt today.
Hunter was given a few minutes to acclimate. Music class started shortly after his arrival but he refused to join.
Staff tried to engage him in his math assignment which is his first academic task in his routine but he used a black sharpie that he took from a teacher's desk and scribbled on the page. He refused to work on another clean copy with staff.
Hunter refused all academic assignments and refused other activities such as art activities and puzzle time He said he
only does video games.
Hunter became agitated and tried to bend pages in a science book that was in his work space. Staff was able to redirect and help him to focus on other things. Hunter did ask to walk outside several times and he followed the direction to stay on the property in a designated space each time.
Hunter helped staff and a peer carry in some bottled water and two small grocery bags before leaving for the day. He also picked up his papers and pencil off the floor before leaving.
