Sage would not put on her uniform shirt today. She did walk with another student and staff this morning with an incentive of some puzzle time after the walk before beginning math. Sage had a positive attitude during the walk and the puzzle time but then shut down and refused math because she was not able to sit next to a student who needed to move her seat to work with a teacher on her assignment. Sage was promised some time to work with the student after math for a reading assignment but this was not incentive enough to engage her in her math lesson. She did not respond to staff when spoken to. After Sage sat for awhile, staff approached her to explain the situation. Sage would not give eye contact. She threw an empty milk carton and went under the table. Sage had some difficulty regulating after the incidence.
Today was a day that was less structured due to a student birthday celebration and a visit from Mr. Jason and his dogs and it was noisy and there were many distractions. Sage used puzzle time as a coping strategy and also went to her quiet space. No work completed today. Sage left at 1:30 for an appointment with her therapist from County.
Sticking with her regular schedule and routine works best for Sage.
