| Comments | Sage needed some puzzle time first thing this morning as she had difficulty wanting to come to school due to the cold weather. She joined me for math when she was ready but by then her schedule was a bit off track because other students were also receiving instruction and directions for the morning work. She works best when we are able to follow her usual schedule and give her some one on one time before the day gets too busy. Sage shut down for awhile during math-she left the lesson and took some time in her work space. It was later revealed through her mother that Sage did not want to write all of her math problems out, just the answers. A discussion was had that that she was not expected to and that staff would write the problems per the usual routine and she would write the answers. Sage and I talked about the importance of verbal communication with the teacher, not just mom. She did not respond to my discussion but did appear to be listening. Sage would only work with her mom for most of the morning, less independent work as usual. Sage was able to turn it around and after lunch was back on track working with other staff and with another student. Sage maintained a positive attitude even though other students struggled a bit this afternoon. |
