Ashton entered school today in a good mood. He gave staff his cap and phone without needing to be asked. He talked with staff and some of the students before going to his desk to work.
He sat at his desk and talked with staff about what to get started on. He started to work but then put his head down for about 5 minutes. Ashton was offered help and reminded that he had a certain amount of work to get done before leaving for the day if he didn't want to take work home. He was offered help to get started but he didn't need it and he got to work. Ashton worked for about 10 minutes.
When he took a break, Ashton took a radio from another room without permission. He refused to give it to staff when directed to do so. He pulled on the cord and pulled it from the radio. The radio was removed but he had the cord. Ashton then went into the office area to take his cell phone without permission. He refused to give it to staff when directed and he pushed to get out of the room with his cell phone. He would not give up his phone and swore at staff using threatening words.
Ashton was sent home for the day. He will also have a sanctioned absence tomorrow. The plan is to return to school on Monday.
